Seminar on Enhancing Shari’ah Structure and Compliance in Promoting Financial Stability
Kuala Lumpur, January 24, 2010 – The Seminar on Enhancing Shariah Structure and Compliance in Promoting Financial Stability is jointly organized by International Shariah Research Academy of Islamic Finance (ISRA) and Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB). The seminar which was held at Lanai Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, received remarkable response from well-known industry practitioners, academicians and scholars from various parts of the world.
The seminar focused on pertinent issues on how to enhance the Shariah structure and its compliance with the ultimate goal of endorsing financial stability. Topics discussed include the ‘Overview of the Shariah Structure and Governance System’, Shariah Structure and Compliance as Practiced in Various Institutions offering Islamic Financial Services’, ‘Shariah Structure and Governance: Perspectives from Prudential Regulations’ and ‘Market Discipline: A Check and Balance on the Shariah Structure and Compliance’. The event speakers also comprised of world-known names of the Islamic financial services industry, such as Professor Dr. Volker Nienhaus, Mr. Murat Hasan Unal, Mr. Peter Casey and many others. These three prominent speakers were engaged in the panel discussion on Enhancing the Shariah Structure and Compliance in Promoting Financial Stability, chaired by Dr. Akram Laldin (Executive Director of ISRA).
To the participants, the printed copies of the presentations will be available for download on Member’s Zone at the IFSB website www.ifsb.org from 31st January onwards.
