Guidelines to Contributors

The ISRA International Journal of Islamic Finance (Journal) publishes original research works. Contributors to the Journal should take the following guidelines into consideration:

 

Review Process

 

The Editorial Committee will make the initial assessment of the suitability of each article for publication in the Journal. If the article is judged suitable for publication, it is then sent to two referees for double-blind peer review. Based on the recommendations of the reviewers, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision whether the article should be accepted as it is, revised or rejected.

 

Manuscript Requirements

 

1.   Articles should be supplied in Microsoft Word format. Diagrams and charts are preferred to be in Microsoft Word or Excel format, but other formats will be considered, when necessary;

2.   Articles should be between 3,000 to 9,000 words in length;

3.   A title of not more than nine words should be provided;

4.   A brief autobiographical note should be supplied, including:

a)      Full name;

b)      Affiliation;

c)      E-mail address;

d)      Full international contact details; and

e)      Brief professional biography.

(NB This information should be provided on a separate sheet and authors should not be identified anywhere else in the article).

 

5.   Articles must include a 150-to-350-word abstract which should be followed by up to six keywords that encapsulate the principal topics of the research. The article should be categorized under one of these classifications:

a)      Research paper;

b)      Viewpoint;

c)      Technical paper;

d)      Conceptual paper;

e)      Case study;

f)       Literature review; or

g)      General review.

6.   Footnotes should be used only if absolutely necessary and must be identified in the text by consecutive numbers;

7.   References to other publications must be in the APA Style and carefully checked for completeness, accuracy and consistency; and

8.   Articles should preferably to be written using AHT Times New Roman font, size 12; and

9.   The Journal’s topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

a)      Fundamentals of Islamic finance;

b)      Fundamentals of Shari’ah

c)      Islamic banking;

d)      Islamic capital market;

e)      Islamic money market;

f)       Islamic insurance/takaful;

g)      Fundamentals of Shari’ah and fiqh and their application to modern finance;

h)      Corporate governance from an Islamic perspective;

i)       Corporate Social Responsibility from an Islamic perspective;

j)       Shari’ah-compliant investment;

k)     Shari’ah-compliant risk management;

l)      Islamic derivatives;

m)    Sukuk, Islamic securities, Islamic funds and Islamic unit trusts;

n)      Islamic venture capital;

o)      Dynamism and mechanisms of Islamic jurisprudence in the light of modern finance;

p)      Islamic economics and monetary system;

q)      Islamic wealth management;

r)       Islamic accounting; and

s)       Shari’ah auditing.

1.   The International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) holds the copyright of the ISRA International Journal of Islamic Finance. The views expressed by authors of the articles published in the Journal however do not necessarily reflect those of ISRA.

2.   Authors should submit articles on an exclusive basis to the Journal. If a submitted article has been or is currently under review at another publication, or if a submission has already been published elsewhere, authors must provide specific information to that effect.

3.   Where multiple submissions are received on the same topic, consideration is generally given to the submission that was received or proposed first.

 

Plagiarism

 

The Journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy on plagiarism. Published articles that the editors determine to include plagiarized content will be removed from the online archives and readers will be notified of the action in the subsequent issue of the Journal. Furthermore, articles received from an author determined to have at any time submitted plagiarized material will not be considered for future publication in the Journal.
